Following a tough, in-depth interview stage, the selection panel chose CloudTrade to be part of the prestigious programme which was launched in 2010 to address the support gap for small enterprises, helping them to unlock the economic and job creation potential of their businesses.
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme was designed by world-class international and national experts in entrepreneurial learning, and brings together leaders of small businesses from across industry sectors, which provided us with many unique networking and peer learning opportunities.
“It is great to have been recognised for our achievements within the industry, and particularly for the innovation that CloudTrade is built upon and of which we are so proud. This was a fantastic opportunity for CloudTrade.” David Cocks, CEO CloudTrade.
After completing an MA in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, David immediately began his career in the technology sector. He has been successful in a number of roles over 30 years, including software development for various enterprises in the UK, Germany and the USA. David was at the very heart of the start of the technology boom in Silicon Valley. He specialised in the new disciplines that brought about the global communication revolution, including seminal developments in data networking protocols and network management. After this he moved on to Management Consulting with eight years at PA Consulting in London, then five years establishing Orbian, an early supply-chain-finance joint-venture for SAP and Citibank, followed by several other senior IT management positions within the financial services industry. In 2009, he co-founded CloudTrade as CEO, with the specific remit to use computational processing and cognitive reasoning to automate the capture and interpretation of business documents. In 2018, David and the CloudTrade team secured over £2million of investment from Calculus Capital to help fuel expansion into new markets. CloudTrade continues to grow, and now has over 40 employees with offices in London and Newcastle (UK) and Boston (USA). Outside of work, you can usually find David exploring the countryside in his camper van and going on very long walks!
